The Tymes….and such ‘tymes’ they were! It was the sixties and music was at the epicentre of seismic cultural, political and social changes that shook the most explosive decade of the 20th century.
Beatles, Stones, Kinks and Yardbirds….Beach Boys, Berry, Byrds and boomers, boomers everywhere! The AM hit single ruled the radio dial at 45 revolutions per minute. Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Heart’s Club Band was in the streets and there was music in our hearts and in the air. The electric guitar was king and Les Pauls, Strats and Rickenbackers wailed, in Dylan’s jingle jangle morning.
The Tymes are four who were there and the songs are in their DNA. Drummer Brian Yeo is a well known Bracebridge musician, teacher and carpenter and bass player Dave Crosby is a Bracebridge ex-pat now living in Toronto who has played with Brian for decades. John Swain and Rick Pearson are also members of the seven-piece r&b band Boomerang that many of you may know from their recent performance at the Bracebridge Fall Fair or you may have caught them at one of many performances at summer music festivals throughout southern Ontario. Rick also toured North America for several years with Liverpool, the first ever Beatles concert experience other than the Fabs themselves. Highlights included performances at The Whiskey a Go Go on Los Angeles’ famed Sunset Strip, Beatlefest ’75 in Manhattan and sharing stages with the likes of Dr. Hook and the Medicine Show, Roberta Flack, Rush, Kim Mitchell, The Eagles and many more. The Tymes look forward to sharing some ‘tymeless’ music with you…a splendid time is guaranteed for all.
